Japanese Art - Anime and Manga

Anime is shortly Japanese cartoon, but also is an art, a culture and a life style that intended for every ages. It can be created by hand or assisted by computers. The subject can be everything whether related to life or not.
It differs from other cartoons as the anime characters' smiles, laments, speeches and movements are different and have some specific rules. The most significant features are anime characters' big eyes and long legs. This is not related to that the Japanese are slant-eyed or they are short. On the contrary, they just influenced by the Walt Disney characters and used similer features in their anime-manga. The most important thing is that the gestures and mimics of characters are exaggerated in their normal lives inside an anime. Another difference is that contrast to the cartoons, in anime you can see sexuality in varying degrees.

Anime had first started by the discovery of animation techniques in French, Germany, America and Russia  by Japanese movie makers at the start of the twentieth century. As for manga (comic version of anime), which is more difficult and a demanding job started in 1970s. The manga drawing attracted more attention and it had been used in the animation movies.

At that time, Osamu Tezuka had been a legend and called ''God of the Manga'' as he created the anime-manga art characteristics of today. Mecha anime type (related to robots) had been taken form and improved by him. With this, mecha anime keeps its popularity all over the world today.

The popularity of anime-manga was not limited only with Japan, it also spread throughout the world. There are a lot of anime-manga being watched and read with love. For example, manga of  ''One Piece'' has been published in twenty three countries and translated into sixteen different languages, and anime series broadcasted in twenty countries and translated into thirteen languages.

Besides, ''Spirited Away'' by Hayao Miyazaki won the Picture of The Year at Japanese Academy Awards and became the first anime movie to win an American Academy Awards.

Anime acknolwledged in Turkey in 1990s. It is a very late date, if we think that the first anime was done in 1917. It is still not so widespread in our country, however, Japan being in the first place, Europe and America are interested in anime and manga culture. They arrange festivals and fairs. They even actualize the costumes of their favourite anime characters which is called Cosplay.

I want to mention about that Japanese people give so importance to anime and manga. They publish a lot of volumes of manga that followed all over the world to continue the culture. In universities there are even departments about anime-manga. In Japan a lot of anime has been broadcasted at the hour when people spend more time before television. With Nintendo games being in the first place, a lot of anime video games are moved to the virtual stage.

I think, the Japanese are reflecting their disciplined system and daily lives by anime and manga to the world. Japan anime and manga series were my path way to reach for the Japanese culture.Their family traditions, home living styles, work conditions and school systems which are similar to ours attracted my attention so much. When I started to watch anime I was three years old. Oncoming ages, I learnt the conception of anime-manga and started to draw the characters. I even attended Japanese course to penetrate their culture. And everyday I am learning new things about it.

I hope you enjoyed while reading it  :) Arigatou ^.^
